General Data Protection Regulation

In May 2018 the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force. It is the most important change in data privacy regulation in the last 20 years and will also have huge impact on the deployment of AI systems. Concerning machine learning and automated decision making systems the GDPR requires the machine to provide, amongst other things, “meaningful information about the logic involved“. This poses substantial challenges for industry and makes the need for interpretable and transparent AI solutions very obvious. Further information can be found at: https://www.eugdpr.org/
